Karina Sim is an accomplished violinist with extensive international performance experience. As both a soloist and concertmaster, she has performed at international festivals in Austria, Greece, Turkey, and Italy. She is a prizewinner of international competitions, the Music of XXI Century Competition in Italy and International Competition for Young Performers in Ukraine.

Currently, she performs with professional ensembles throughout Texas and Arkansas, including the Dallas Chamber Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Plano Symphony, Irving Symphony, Fort Smith Symphony. Her collaborations with the Fort Smith Symphony include recordings for the Naxos label of Black American female composer, Florence Prince Symphonys no. 1 and no. 4. Indiginous North American composer, Louis Wayne Ballard The Four Moons. Karina has also collaborated with world-renowned artists across genres, including Michael Bublé, Evanescence, Lindsey Stirling, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, and The Roots, showcasing her versatility as a performer.

Alongside her performance career, Karina is a dedicated and passionate teacher. She has over a decade of teaching experience. Her students range from beginners to advanced players, and she specializes in preparing them for competitions, auditions, and youth orchestras.

Karina’s students have earned top placements in competitions such as the Crescendo International Competition, Little Mozart Competition, and International Youth Music Competition. Her students performed as competition winners at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Many have also been selected for ensembles such as the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra, Denton Youth Orchestra, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, All-Region and All-State orchestras. Some of her students have even gone on to receive scholarships to study at colleges of music at UNT.

She studied at the Gnesin Moscow State Music School, Moscow State Academic Music College, and the Moscow State Musical Pedagogical Institute of Ippolitov-Ivanov. In 2014, Karina moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies at the University of North Texas under the guidance of Professor Julia Bushkova. Awarded a full-tuition scholarship and a Teaching Assistant position, she distinguished herself both academically and artistically. During her time at UNT, she won the Concerto Competition and performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the UNT Symphony Orchestra. She later earned her Graduate Artist Certificate, serving as first violinist of a graduate string quartet, while remaining actively engaged in chamber music, contemporary ensembles, and orchestral programs.
